ATTEND GODLY DECISION-MAKING: THE PRACTICE OF DISCERNMENT - A LENTEN RETREAT ON MARCH 2ND
Kettlewood Retreats invites you to a Lenten retreat about discernment at Cedar Valley on Friday, March 2nd, from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Discernment has been described by one theology professor as "the intentional practice by which a community or an individual seeks God in concrete situations."A special perk will be an opportunity to put spiritual discernment to work as you engage in walking prayer on an indoor labyrinth. Wartburg Theological Seminary's 31st Annual Rural Ministry Conference will take place March 4th - 6th at the Best Western Plus Hotel located at 3100 Dodge Street in Dubuque, Iowa. This year's focus is Courage in a Caring Community. REGIONAL SPRING TOWN HALL MEETINGS WITH BISHOP LINDA LEE
Bishop Lee and the Wisconsin Conference Cabinet invite you to their Regional Spring Town Hall Meeting, the focus of which is Building Beloved Community. The Town Hall Meeting for laity and clergy will run from 7 - 8:30 p.m. (clergy will also meet from 4 - 5:30 p.m. with a break in between). Following welcome and introductions, attendees will discuss the following three questions in smaller groups; each question followed by a time of feedback from the tables to the large group:

  • What does beloved community look and feel like?
  • How do we build beloved community?
  • What prevents us from living fully in beloved community?

Bishop Lee will share her vision of beloved community following these discussions. The Town Hall Meetings will take place at the following locations and dates. Feel free to attend the one that is most convenient for you. (No pre-registration is required.):

FOUNDATIONS FOR BEFRIENDER MINISTRY WORKSHOP IS SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 25TH - 28TH
Ever wondered how you can meet the growing need for pastoral care in your congregation? Foundations for BeFriender Ministry is a workshop for leaders who want to implement and maintain a listening ministry of lay pastoral care in their church. Who Attends? A team of 2 - 5 from your church including at least one staff member and one or more lay volunteers or current BeFriender Ministers who seek to become program leaders. When: April 25th - 28th. CAMP SEASON IS QUICKLY APPROACHING!
United Methodist Summer Camps are a great way to Dig Deep, Plant Seeds, and Grow in Christian Relationships. Both youth and adults will strengthen their faith and grow in Christian community at camp this summer. Summer Camp promotional materials have been sent to all congregations and registrations are also available online. We have resources for planning your Camp Sunday. UMCOR UPDATES

  • Cyclone Nargis Recovery in Myanmar: The people of Myanmar (Burma) are still working to recover from Cyclone Nargis, which killed more than 100,000 people in 2008. Gifts to International Disaster Response, Conference Fund number 5966, provide for disaster response and recovery worldwide. Please send your check to the Wisconsin Conference UMC Treasurer.
  • Bishop Trimble, the Iowa Conference Immigration Task Force, and a special writing team led by Rev. Denny Coon and Rev. Roger Betsworth, have created a Lenten Bible Study on Immigration for local churches, small groups, and individuals.   • Help UMCOR prepare for spring storms by assembling and sending cleaning buckets. These kits provide the basic items families need to clean their home after a flood or other disaster. Learn how.
