Still looking for a summer experience for your youth group, but don’t have time to plan it?  Individuals or a whole youth group are invited to join First UMC Madison’s youth on either of their mission trips this summer.  A unique mission trip experience that through service work, relationship building, and discussions we’ll also work at understanding the systems that perpetuate the disparities we witness.  A college trip is also happening alongside the high school trip to Appalachia.  Let’s partner together!

High School trip & College-age trip to Appalachia – July 22-30

Twelve-day Hawaiian adventure/mission trip; working on construction projects at the Hawaiian Methodist Church’s Camp Mekokiko.Camp Mekokiko is a 36 acre property on the slopes of Kalopa State Park on the Hamakua Coast, just 7 miles from the historic old sugar plantation town of Honokaa, which is also the gateway to beautiful Waipio Valley.

Spend 5 full & 2 half days working on camp and/or construction projects; which will be determined as trip gets closer.  We will need 2 cooks on work days.  Based at Camp Mekokiko, accommodations include detached his & hers bathroom and shower house.  Sleeping is dorm style with cots (bedding & pillows furnished).  Meals provided on work days.  The work in Hawaii will be challenging, surrounded by some of the most breath-taking views of God’s Creation.  Be prepared to be wet as Camp is in a rain forest area and it is very warm & humid.

Cost $1,300.00, includes travel from Minneapolis.  Deposit of $650 is due when registering before April 1st, we are only able to take the first 20 volunteers that register and pay the deposit in full, balance due April 24th, 2017. Spots are filling fast, with only 6 spots left at this time.

Come explore the natural beauty of Hawaii on excursion days; experience a traditional luau, see waterfalls, sea turtles, dolphins, beaches, volcanoes, explore local shops & cuisine. Excursions prices ARE NOT included in trip costs; details and projected excursion costs are available upon request.

We have an opportunity for your church to support Northcott Neighborhood House (NNH). Another HVAC unit at NNH needs to be replaced. Northcott was able to replace some units last year because of your generosity. This particular unit services many of the classrooms. We are fortunate that we have had a mild winter, but students are still inconvenienced and we'd like to complete the replacement as soon as possible. Any donation your church, or individual members of your church, can make will be greatly appreciated. If you would like additional information, you may NNH at 414-372-3770. We thank you in advance for your support.

It is with great joy that Wisconsin Advance # 7945 (Equipping Conference for Effective Christian Leaders) announced the birth of a seminary in the Mbale region of Uganda.  Doors to Green Pasture School of Theology  opened August 30, 2015.  The seminary is now in need of study books and reference materials for the library.  The average of cost of these books is $25, about what the average Ugandan earns per month.  Since many of these students do not have jobs, what little income they have goes toward food and housing.  Almost all the students currently receive scholarships.  These seminarians need support from the larger Body of Christ, would you help by sending a gift to the Wisconsin Annual Conference Advance # 7945, 750 Windsor St., Sun Prairie, WI 53590, and note “books” on your gift?  All gifts will be acknowledged by the seminarians so please include your name and address or email.  For more information, or to invite a speaker, email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Please know that your gifts are deeply appreciated, as they change the lives of hundreds of Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

(Unfortunately no hard cover books can be received since shipping them to Uganda is cost prohibitive.)
