Too often well-planned programs fail
due to lack of participants. Almost always it is because of
inadequate publicity for the event. If a person is chosen to take
responsibility for publicity and promotion, make certain that all
leaders understand the importance of their participation for
generating enthusiasm. Below is a suggested time line and
checklist for the promotion of your event.

Initial
promotion; brief notice in bulletins, newsletters, posters; verbal
notices at meetings, worship services, etc.

months prior to the event
Informational
flyer with registration form mailed to potential participants.

1/2 months prior to the event
Telephone
contacts; letters to parents if youth event.

month prior to the event
Registration
deadline for a reduced fee subsidized by group or church.
3
weeks prior to the event
Another
flyer with more detailed information and perhaps other
registrants' names.
2
weeks prior to the event
Personal
contacts and confirmation.
1
week prior to the event
Registration
deadline; call site with participant numbers; go over final concerns. |
