(The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) Started in 1894 by the
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) as a way for LDS
families to trace their heritage, Family Search has grown into the world's
largest genealogical reseach collection in the world. Containing more
than 2.2 million rolls of microfilmed genealogical records; 742,000 microfiche;
300,000 books, serials, and other formats; and 4,500 periodicals. The
Ancestral File database contains approximately 35.6 million names. Familysearch.org
allows users to search records, share information and contact the Family
Search facilities. Includes research hints and has a "research assistant"
to help users with online searches.
Fred J. Reynolds Historical Genealogy Department:
The Fred J. Reynolds
Historical Genealogy Department is part of the Allen County Public
Library located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Reynolds Genealogy Department
has more than 300,000 printed volumes and 306,000 items of microfiche
and microfilm; includes both national and international resources. Users
can search Fort Wayne and Allen County, Indiana, obituaries. Contact the
Allen County Public Library for more information.

Provides comprehensive genealogical sources to subscribers. Users have
access to hundreds of millions of fully searchable individual records,
including all available US Census records (1790-1930).
Cyndi's List: Free site. Cyndi's
List is a portal to genealogical Web sites. It contains categorized
and cross-referenced index to genealogical resources on the Web.
Everton Publisher's Genealogy Page: Everton's
Publisher's Genealogy Page provides users with a list of genealogical
archives and libraries, U.S. and international resources for genealogists,
software archives, and catalogs of Everton products and services and links
to those sites.
The Family Tree Maker: Family
Tree Maker provides users access to Broderbund's free data files including
a version of the Social Security Death Index (SSDI) and their FamilyFinder
Index.
RootsWeb.com: Free site. RootsWeb.com
is one of the oldest and largest free online community for genealogists.
Contains extensive interactive guides and numerous research tools for
tracing family histories. RootsWeb's WorldConnect Project contains more
than 209 million ancestor names. The RootsWeb Surname List consists of
a registry of more than one million surnames. RootsWeb boasts approximately
22,000 mailing lists and 125,000 message boards.
U.S. Gen Web Project: Free site. US
Gen Web Project is managed by volunteers and provides links to genealogical
Web sites in in all fifty US states and several foreign countries. Also
includes projects such as "The Census Projects" and "The
Tombstone Project."
