Highland Highlights August/September 2000

We greet you this time from the Highlands of PNG! We are living at 5,000 feet elevation, so it is a big switch from living along the coast at sea level. It gets down in the 50's - low 60's in the mornings and evenings and up in the 90's during the day.

The flight program continues to be very busy. Bart's checkout here is almost finished. He will then be flying the Cessna 206 here in the Highlands for a while. The past months, with all of our moving, have been hard and trying. Yes, at times we have grown very weary. We are reminded of Hebrews 11. What is faith? "It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen." When things go good and when they go bad, true faith in the God who made us is the anchor that holds us. This has been a tremendous encouragement!

We are now settled in our home here and are getting into a routine. Kim is helping out in the school. She listens to the second graders read. She enjoys this, and it also givers her more time with Kelly and Blake.

Family Tidbits

The kids started school on the 26th of July. They are finding it a bit challenging academically, but they really enjoy it. They all have wonderful teachers. They are also enjoying all of the activities that the school here offers. They recently had a skate night in the Gym, which all four of them loved! The boys also enjoy playing peewee hockey every week. The kids just got their first pet. We now have a little black and white kitten. Her name is Oreo.

THANK YOU for standing so faithfully with us. Please pray for us, for this country, for the people and for the work we are doing. The rewards are eternal.

In His Love,

Bart & Kim Haines & family
