Staff Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the
Pine Lake ministry team. Pine Lake Camp is a year-round
camp and retreat center in central Wisconsin, serving
youth, adults, individuals with special needs and
families. Our guests come here from all over the state
to experience the beauty of mixed oak woodlands, a
beautiful 40-acre lake, pines and prairies. Our mission
is to provide a setting and program for all ages to
immerse themselves in the wonder of God's natural world
and in that experience, grow in their faith.
Below you will find a list of seasonal positions and
general information regarding employment at Pine Lake
Camp. Please feel free to contact us by mail, phone, or

Application
Process
The 2007 Summer Application packet
must be filled out and mailed back to Pine Lake
Camp. The three reference forms must be given to
individuals who have known you in a supervisory or
professional position. Those individuals need to
mail the reference forms back to Pine Lake Camp.
Applications will be reviewed upon receiving your
three references. You will be contacted to set up
an on-site interview concerning the position.
Employment
Dates
Summer staff will be required to start on June 5, 2007,
and work through August 14, 2007. Some staff may be
asked to come earlier or stay later to help prepare for
the opening of the summer camping season or to help
close down. Please note on your application if you are
interested and available during this extended time
period.
Compensation
Employees are expected to work six days per week, with
a full 24-hour period of time off. Starting salary for
new applicants will be $200—$210 per week. Returning
staff or those positions with certifications that have
additional supervisory roles may be eligible for
additional compensation.
Staff members will be provided with training that will
cover health and safety issues, emergency procedures,
child abuse issues, hospitality and service training,
program and team building skills.
Meals are provided. Housing is provided for staff
members age 18 and older. Most staff members will share
a room with another staff member in the Pine Center.
Role of
a Staff Member
As a staff member, you will be seen by over 2,000
campers, adults, and families during the summer season.
They are looking to you for guidance and service. You
will be expected to portray a Christian lifestyle.
Therefore, staff members must portray an attitude of
hospitality and service at all times to our guests.
As a staff member in a hospitality and service
ministry, you are also looked to for information. When
a guest asks for information from you, it is expected
that you will handle the request until it is completed.
This means that if you do not have the answer, you do
your best to meet the guest’s need.
Following is a list of positions available at Pine Lake
Camp. Each position has a brief description and
essential functions. You must be able to fill all
essential functions for the positions for which you are
applying. A full position description will be given to

Program
Positions
• Summer Program Director: is
responsible for assisting the Site Director in
coordinating all summer programs at camp. The Program
Director will be responsible for facilitating programs
and coordinating staff assignments for low ropes,
crafts, nature, recreation, nature and campfire
programs for all event camps. Assist Site Director in
office duties as assigned, help run and maintain the
camp store. Musical skills are a plus. Minimum age 20.
• Summer Naturalist: The Naturalist
will present all nature activities during the summer.
Will also be responsible for the care and health of
resident education animals. This position will also
assist in the presentation of low ropes, crafts,
campfire and recreational programs as needed.
• Summer Program Assistant: Assist the
Summer Program Director in creating and/or presenting
craft, music, campfire, nature, recreation, and low
ropes programs for summer groups.
• Special Needs Counselors: Must
posses a true heart for the physically and mentally
disabled individual. Assist Event Directors at all 3
UMC camp sites in providing a safe and valuable
Christian camping experience for Special Needs youth
and adults. Be willing and able to assist campers with
daily living skills as needed. Provide spiritual as
well as program leadership for camper. Will assist in
other summer programs and site projects during weeks
when no Special Needs Camp is offered.
• Waterfront Staff: The waterfront
team are responsible for the total health and safety of
the lakeside waterfront area. They are in charge of
waterfront supervision, guarding, sharing waterfront
policy with guests and organizing recreational
waterfront programs. Must be WSI or Red Cross Lifeguard
certified, with proven ability to work as part of a
team.
• Outpost Counselors: Outpost
counselors should express a true love and appreciation
for rustic living in God’s great outdoors. The
counselor will be a reliable adult who is dedicated to
the Christian faith. Must be committed to the health
and welfare of campers, be involved in their activities
and provide guidance. Counselors should seek to
understand the uniqueness of the outpost camp program
and through it, strive to use it to draw campers closer
to God. Canoeing, hiking outdoor cooking and other
rustic camping skills are desired. Will work at various
sites within the conference camps.
• Lead Outpost Counselor: In addition
to the outpost counselor duties the lead counselor will
assist in managing the outpost camping experience.
Providing staff as well as campers with leadership and
supervision. Assist the Outpost coordinator in
presenting outpost programs and scheduling staff led
activities. Insure campers are provided a secure,
healthy and spiritually nurturing camping experience.
Food Service
• Kitchen Assistant: The Kitchen
Assistant will be responsible for helping the Food
Service Manager prepare and coordinate and clean up
after all meals. Will also assist in general
maintenance and cleaning of the dining room and
kitchen. Minimum age is 18, preferably with experience
in food service.
Support Staff
• Healthcare Coordinator: This person
will manage the health program for all campers. Collect
medications and health forms during registration, keep
accurate and confidential records, and dispense
medication as prescribed. Administer first aid as
needed. Minimum certification of First Responder,
higher certification (EMT, RN) preferred.
• Housekeeping/Maintenance Assistant:
This position requires commitment to hospitality as a
valuable Christian ministry and the ability to find
satisfaction in providing the highest standard of
cleanliness. Position will assist the Housekeeper in
cleaning and maintaining cabins, the Retreat Center and
other camp facilities. Requires working most weekends
with time off during the week.
Volunteer
Opportunities
Pine Lake also utilizes short- and long-term volunteers
during the summer. This includes volunteers who have a
variety of skills. Volunteer positions include:

• Project Workers
• Plus a variety of other types of
work
We do need to screen all of our volunteers to ensure a
safe environment for our guests. There is a separate
application that needs to be filled out. For further
