In All Things Charity (IATC) is a national movement
which began in 1997 to protest the negative policies on sexual
orientation adopted by the UMC. Its aim is to influence the 2000
General Conference to change these positions toward one of justice
and inclusion of all people.
There are two statements, one for
clergy and
one for laity,
to sign on as a supporter and indicate whether their name may
be used in publicizing the response to this effort.
This movement has been expanded
with the hiring of the Rev. Greg Dell, recently suspended by the
Northern Illinois Conference jury for performing a Holy Union
for two men in the Broadway UM Church, Chicago. He will work full-time
for this movement from July 5, until General Conference meets
in May, 2000. The headquarters will be at Broadway UMC, but Dell
will not have any pastoral duties with that congregation.
He has decided that he cannot sign a promise to not do such services
which would have lifted his suspension.
Readers are invited to consider
signing along with hundreds of UMCs who have already signed on
as supporters.
