WHAT IS IT?
Creation Care Churches is a project developed for the United Methodist Churches of the Wosconsin Conference to encourance each congregation to become good stewards of Gods creation. Environmental stewardship within our churches will provide leadership and prophetic models for the people of the church and the community. Through this project the church will have long term impact on safegaurding the environment for all life for the present and for all generations to come.
This is an ongoing project, which will continue into coming years.
"Creation Care Churches" is a project of the Board of Church and Society of the Wisconsin Annual Conference. It borrows from the program of the same name in the Kanses West Conference, and from "The Environmental Justice Covenant Program" of the National Council of Churches.
WHAT IS REQUIRED?
The first step is to enlist a dedicated enthusiastic environmental concerns chairperson or committee. You will need volunteers who participate because of their own commitment to the cause. The leaders should actively seek to educate themselves and others, and work to safegaurd the environment.
The second expectation for the Creation Care Churches is to complete at least one activity of each of the four environmental areas.
*Those congregations recieving banners can in future years be awarded appliques for continuing in the Creation Care program.
